sunday collection 23
There is a walnut tree in our yard. Or, more precisely, our neighbour's yard. The branches of which reach over the fence and flop mostly into our yard. Quite possibly for this reason, we also have a mild squirrel infestation. These conditions lead to the expression of a fundamental equation to which I had not been exposed - until now:

shoes.
just to be clear, these shoes aren't mine. although, i do have a little shoe collection of my own. not in the Imelda Marcos' shoe collection sort of way, but in a few pairs kind of way.

seashells...
...from Ivan.
this was taken a couple of weekends ago. it was a sunny Saturday and we had an impromptu picnic trip to this place called Bellevue Beach, about an hour and half outside St. John's. i'm actually not sure if we found our intended beach destination, but we did have our picnic in a beautiful pond somewhere there and a couple of minutes up the road is an amazing rocky beach.
will post more pictures from this little day trip sometime soon!

empties.
just a few of the empties that had been temporarily collected.
we usually give our empties to Wayne. He calls himself the Governor of Georgetown and is the most dedicated bottle collector and recycler in the neighbourhood.

radiators.

these pictures were taken at Powers Surplus & Salvage sometime last week. it seems fitting after hearing Mr. Burtynsky's presentation.
we went to see Edward Burtynsky's talk this afternoon at The Rooms. his photography mostly deals with how humans transform the landscape through over-consumption of natural resources such as ore, gold and oil. it was a sobering talk.
Burtynsky's Oil exhibit opened at The Rooms the other day and will be showing until sometime in August. that's plenty of time and we highly recommend that you go see it.
Also, watch the documentary Manufactured Landscapes if you haven't seen it yet. the opening shot is 8 1/2 minutes. amazing.

embroidery hoops.
i bought these hoops from Value Village over a month ago. i thought they were a bit expensive for $1.99 a piece but figured it would be good to make a craft out of it. i only got around to working on one so far.
the owl was drawn by Philippa Jones and was screen printed by me at my previous workplace. this is a gift to two of my favourite people and their wee one arriving in a couple of months or so.

Sunday Collection 4: Even Sunday-ey-er
Coming soon to a theatre near you!
A super long video of snow collecting on our window. Yup, the weather continues to be great here.
I'm still doing simple D5000 tests... Now that I have a video tripod head I can actually do pans and tilts that look acceptable. This is a veeery slow tilt. Gravy.
